In this post, I will focus on affiliate marketing 101 - which is introduction to affiliate marketing.

What Is Affiliate Marketing And How Does It Work?

3 Main Benefits of affiliate marketing -

• Leveraging other peoples hard work [ you sell their service / product ]
• No costumer service necessary [ they deal with refunds / any problem the costumer have with the product]
• You can start an affiliate marketing business for free.

2 Cons of affiliate marketing -

• You don’t have control [ the affiliate marketing campaign can be stopped anytime by the owner, but it doesn’t happen usually ]
• You get “just” X% for each sale [ some people would rather create their own product and get 100% of the sale ]

How Much Money Can Affiliate Marketers Make ?

This is my favorite question. Obviously, it depends on the marketer.

If I asked you ” how much can a lawyer make ? ” what would be the answer ? 🙂

You can be a failing lawyer that barerly have enough to pay the rent, or you can be a superstar-lawyer that makes millions a year.

It depends on YOU.

But I know most people ask this question in order to get motivated, so here are some numbers :

Lets say you are promoting a pet training guide.

You start your website, post quality content, and also use PPC ( paid per click - its a form of paid traffic)

You get 10,000 visitors / month to your website, they all have pets (or whatever..its just an example idk a think about pets so..)

3% of them buy the pet training guide, that costs $50 [ pretty realistic isnt it? just 3%]… you get 50% comission.

How much money did you make ?

3% of 10,000 = 300 * $25 (your 50% comission ) = $7500 / month.

So what do you think? can you make money with affiliate marketing? you tell me.

I know getting 10,000 vistiors / month isn’t easy, but it is not impossible.

How to Become a Successful Affiliate Marketer In 7 Simple Steps -

 

Let me further explain each of the 7 steps to creating your affiliate marketing business -

Step 1 : create a wordpress website.

First, you’ll need a hosting for your website, cheapest one I know is IntelWeb [<-link] , start with them, they cost like 3$/year…

After you have your hosting and a domain, wordpress is extremely easy to set-up. no programming knowledge needed.

Go to your webhosting cpanel and click ” install wordpress ” from there you’ll need to set a user name and password.

a 7 years old can do it. literally.

Step 2 : Choosing a niche

This part is the one most people struggle with.

That’s why I recommend you start with something you know about.

To be honest, if you are a professional affiliate marketer, i’d say go with what the market needs.

NOT WITH WHAT YOU LOVE. The marketplace doesn’t give a damn about your passion to be honest.

It’s just when you’re starting out, you need to figure out how to perfect the affiliate marketing process, and I wouldn’t recommend studying a new topic ( like how to train bees or whatever there is a need for lol ) on top of studying the affiliate marketing thing.

Hope that makes sense.

So start with what you already know about.

Do you have a dog ? good… pet affiliate products are huge

Are you an athlete / love sports ? weight loss is the way to go (Very competitive, but theres so much money in weight loss )

And so on…

Don’t stall on it. Just pick a niche and move on… seriously.

Some people don’t start because they are stuck on the “niche picking ” phase for years.

 

step 3 - add VALUABLE, HIGH QUALITY, JAW-DROPPING content.

I hope you get the point.

CONTENT IS GOD.

If your website has shitty content with 100 word articles, you will get 0 attention from search engines.

Can you find a post on my blog, bigbucksblogger.com, that is less than 500 words ? ( don’t waste your time looking, haha)

I cant emphasize this enough.

WRITE VALUABLE CONTENT.

Research your niche.

Learn the most powerful tips and methods in your niche, then teach your readers.

DONT EVER COPY CONTENT FROM OTHERS.

 

Step 4 - find affiliate offers that are RELATED to your niche ( duh)

I recommend clickbank.com for affiliate offers.

After you sign up, go to their marketplace and there are thousands of affiliate offers to promote.

Simply choose the offer that is related to your niche.

Lets say you own a blog about pitbulls - > pick a product that is teaches you how to train your dog to sit, jump and talk…

or whatever dog owners will relate to and need.

Here’s a huge tip when choosing click-bank offers : look at the “gravity”, thats clickbanks formula to tell you how many people

promote the product, the higher the competition -> the higher the sales amount.

You also want to look at avg$/sale - that means how much is an average sale worth to you. ( based on the comission you get )

And I highly recommend choosing “recurring ” offers, that means its a service that the costumer will pay for every month,

And you of course, get monthly commissions on it 🙂

Step 5 - Add your affiliate links to your blog / website

This step is crucial.

Most people just spam the hell out of their website with affiliate offers…

That’s NOT how you promote affiliate offers.

Here’s a rule of thumb :

BUILD A WEBSITE THAT PROVIDES HUGE VALUE TO THE READERS, AND ADD SOME AFFILIATE LINKS TO IT.

NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. ( which is what most marketers do, and thats why most of them fail ).

 

Step 6 - Your Traffic Acts ( you need to get traffic )

So obviously thats the part where your traffic will act, if you did everything right.

But how do you get traffic ?

1. search engines (organic traffic )
2. social media (facebook, twitter etc )
3. paid traffic ( adwords, bing ppc, and so on…)

There are so many ways to get traffic, but these 3 are the most powerful ones.

I will write a whole post on traffic, including the types of traffic there are and how to get more traffic to your website.

But as a beginner, I highly recommend creating a facebook page and utilizing social media.

SEO will take time and knowledge ( which I will teach you, but I want you to get a traffic boost when you set up your website)

So your best bet will be to spam the hell out of your facebook as well as your friends and familys’ facebook. lol.

Step 7 - Get paid, Track Results, Rinse & Repeat

So after you get your comissions, you MUST TRACK and see what worked for you.

What affiliate products sold the most ?

What keywords worked the most ?

What articles on your blog sold the most products?

and so on.

After you analyse your data, make sure to act upon it.

Lets say you wrote a post about ” how to train your dog ” and had a link to an affiliate product that is a dog training course in it.

That post sold like hell and made you big bucks.

What does that tell you ?

Maybe you should write more about dog training and offer similar programs for chihuahua now ?

I picked a horrible example, but you get the point.

Always track your results so you’ll know where the money is coming from.
