SaleHoo Vs Doba : Which Is A Better Place To Find Wholesalers
The million dollar question when it comes to selling online, whether it’s eBay, Amazon, Bonanaza or even your own e-commerce store, is how to find wholesale items to sell ?
As we all know, listing an item, selling, packing and shipping are all very simple and technical things.
When it comes to selling (and making decent profits) online, there are 2 factors that will determine if you make a tone of money, or lose it.
There 2 factors are :
- Selling the right products - selling products that are in demand, and are profitable.
- Finding the right source - meaning, the right supplier / wholesaler to get these products constantly.
When it comes to product research, I use AsinSpector (affiliate) and currently believe it is the best software to find great products with in 2016.
But what about the second question ? where do you find a wholesaler for the product you want to sell online ?
That’s what today’s post is about.
Two of the most popular websites to find suppliers are SaleHoo and Doba.
I personally use SaleHoo, and today, I will briefly review salehoo, and explain why I think it is currently the best way to find suppliers online.
SaleHoo Vs. Doba : What They’re All About, And Why I Choose SaleHoo
What Are SaleHoo & Doba ?
SaleHoo and Doba are both directories of suppliers and wholesalers from all over the world, and their whole purpose is to connect you to a supplier that can sell you the product you’re looking for.
How Does It Work ?
Here’s a quick example : I have decided to sell Iphone 6 cases online, and am looking for a supplier in USA. I go to SaleHoo and type ” iphone 6 cases” and hundreds of suppliers pop.
I get a huge list of suppliers that provide Iphone 6 cases and then can contact them, get quotes, ask them questions, and eventually buy their iphone cases and resell them, online or offline.
Why Do I Prefer SaleHoo Vs. Doba ?
SaleHoo is basically a directory (list) of suppliers and wholesalers from all over the world, divided into categories and products.
SaleHoo has over 8000 verified wholesalers & suppliers, and each supplier obviously produces more than 1 product, so you can see how many products you get access to.
Doba also has a good database of suppliers, however, I didn’t find as many good suppliers as I found in SaleHoo.
Plus, one of the biggest advantages of SaleHoo is, they have great tutorials on how to find sell and market profitable products online, how to choose the right supplier, and so on…
These tutorials are priceless, and even I, who have been selling online for years now, have learned A LOT from them.
SaleHoo also provide huge information about trends, and what products are selling well right now in each platform (ebay, amazon and so on…) that is a critical piece of information that can give us you a serious advantage when deciding which products are winners and which are losers.
And last, there are no minimum order requirement on SaleHoo. When I first started I remember calling a manufcaturer, telling them I wanted to order 500 pieces to test the product, see how it sells, and so on.
They told me they won’t sell less than 10,000 pieces. That’s their MOQ (minimum quantity). I was bummed, but I quickly googled and came up with another supplier… I called them and guess what was their answer to my 500 items request ?
Yup. They simply didn’t want to deal with me because I was “too little”.
Then, I joined SaleHoo, and I remember when of the things I loved the most was that they don’t have MOQs or have very little ones, so if you are just beginning, or even an advanced seller who want to test the market, SaleHoo will provide a supplier that will sell any quantity you need.
LETS WRAP IT UP …
Finding the right products to sell online, is the probably the hardest, and most important part of your business.
Picking the wrong product might cost you thousands. In fact it happened to me.
When I first started selling on eBay, I bought over 1,000 items that are still sitting at my garage, and lost probably $4000-5000 in inventory. Then I lost another $2000 when I bought a product from a supplier and it was the wrong item.
It all happened because I was too eager to make money online, and at the same time, I wasn’t educated.
I didn’t know what products are selling, how to find trust-worthy suppliers, how to negotiate with them, and so on.
SaleHoo is so great because not only it introduces you to over 8,000 verified suppliers ( they check and verify each of their suppliers, so you won’t be scammed), they also provide all the information you need in order to succeed when it comes to selling online.
