Google Slapped?! Huh!

Want proof Google can’t detect paid links? While I was out of action attending to fire drills with my real job, it appears my blog rank dropped to zero!

How did I discover this the drop? Well, Lorin Larkin emailed me and asked:

Where’d you disappear to? I always look forward to your posts and you’ve been MIA. I was also interested in your take on the Google slap. I see you have enjoyed it with the rest of us!

All I can say is “Huh?” In all honesty, I think the incoming links for L’s Linky Love and my other plugins are editorial. Sure, I encouraged people to mention the plugins- but no one is required to post. I think other incoming links are editorial.

I posted once for Smorty and Bloggerwave: Those links have been no-followed for a long, long, long time. Do I run PPP ads? Review me?

So… huh? On the other hand, “C’est La Vie!”

Now… off to read what the “in the know” people have to say. :)

I think the problem is that you said the magic word “Pay Per Post” in your Nov 12 post. It seems that the Google’s Dementors killed the PR for any blog that spoke the name that is not to be spoken

  2. Lucia says:

Frank: I hunted around, that saying PPP seems the most likely theory for my loss of rank.

If that’s not it, I don’t know what it is. So, I don’t have any idea what I could do to correct this.

If just posting the words “Pay Per Post” is now a violation, I’d say Google has forgotten the spirit of the first amendment! :)

  3. Gizmo says:

    Isn’t that um censorship?

  4. Gizmo says:

Oh and sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I figured you knew!

  5. Lucia says:

Lorin- I was glad you told me. :)

Under the circumstances, I’m just waiting to see what Google does or says, or whatever. Loosing rank is hardly the end of the world-but it is a curiosity worth reporting.

  6. Google just want to monopolize the online advertising market - by using something advertisers are bound which is PR.

People say PR is gold and with so many PR reduced, we don’t have any choice but to promote Adsense which PR doesn’t count to make money…

  7. Request reconsideration, Lucia, really. Mistakes happen and I’m sure this is one of them.

  8. Sadie says:

I really don’t want to come off as rude but if anyone should reconsider anything, I think it should be Gg….The only massive mistake that was made came from that ballpark. What’s that ole saying…’Power Corrupts’

  9. Carlos says:

If all this is true it would also mean that you could harm your competitors by linking to them with words like PPP …

  10. diabetes says:

I am not thinking abut google pageranks now. I was so hopeful about that and after slaping frm google I just left thinking about it.

  11. talia says:

Crap! I never even thought of Google penalizing a blog for using words like that. I blame it on all the spammers out there though, they are ruining everything for those of us who are actually contributing to the internet! Grrrr

  12. Score Piano says:

    google again, google again… T-T

  13. SCARLETT says:
