Text Link Ads: Banned by Google.

Text Link Ads (TLA) has a new program and it’s kind of convenient and neat for publishers, but caution is advised because Text Link Ads also recently lost it’s google rank for searches on “Text Link Ads”.

I learned about the Google de-ranking today. It’s not clear what this means for publishers participating in Text Link Ads. However, it does suggest that Google is willing to cut some threads in the web to discourage for paid links programs that do not use nofollow.

This is why i rejected that TLA campaign. Not to mention that they didn’t want you participating with PPP and SponsoredReview.com etc. It didn’t make a lick of sense. Thanks for filling us in on this little tidbit.

I get so annoyed with companies whose TOS include restrictions on what people can do. Ultimately, if they’re paying for a link in Post A, why should the be able to tell me what I can include in Posts B and C?

That makes sense, then. I’d been thinking of running TLA’s in-post links on one of my other blogs but after reading your article on John Chow getting banned by Google, I’m a bit alarmed. I hate the thought of losing PR at my best site over too much monetization.
