“The Tampon Blog” MEETS Blogrush Quality Standards?!

Evidently, John Reese announced he’s purged all the bad blogs from Blogrush: Banned bloggers were sent email that began:

We regret to inform you that your BlogRush Account Is Currently INACTIVE. Your blog(s) did not pass our Quality Review criteria. You will find instructions below for making your account active again. You will notice that the widget no longer loads on your pages — please remove the BlogRush code from your blog for now.

Having discovered “The Tampon Blog” through BlogRush, I was curious to see if it got banned.

Tampon Blog Made the Cut

Behold! “The Tampon Blog” appears to meet the Blogrush Quality guidelines. Here’s a screen shot of The Blogrush Widget which still displays and functions!

What type of blogs got banned? Blogs like Tamar Weinberg’s blog (for not displaying the widget), SEO Pedia, John Cow, Steve Olson, Ramblings of an Affiliate Marketer, Ryan Parker.net, Geology Joe, Dawn and Jimmy, Just a Girl in Short Shorts Talkin’ and SEO Cog who had previously tried, but failed, to quit Blogrush.

Hmmm…..

Blogrush was trying to improve people’s perception of them with this update but I think they’ve damaged their image instead of improved it.

People now think they’re a joke because of what blogs they allowed and what ones they haven’t.

    Hi,
Actually, my blog SEOCog was accepted…even though I’m no longer “supposedly” a member. These people need to get a grip. As you stated, I aparently “failed” to quit BlogRush. I didn’t check out all of the blogs I saw were removed, but SEO Pedia and Dawn and Jimmy in your list had no clear violations that I saw….

Melanie, from what I’ve about their “team” of experts, it’s no big surprise that I didn’t make the cut - obviously, they were looking for quality CRAP - and mine isn’t :)

Thank you for including me in this post.
I think that blogrush has damaged their creditability for dumping blogs that clearly meet their ‘criteria’. like my own.

I showed NO INCREASE of traffic from blog rush.

I got an email the other day saying my blog was accepted, but I just went to look at my account - to see what category I’d placed my gardening blog in (Home and Garden) so that I could compare what type of sites were coming up for that category and I saw that all my blogs still say pending review. Hmmm so I wonder which blog was accepted? Strange huh.

I think it’s the bottom area of the stats that shows how many supposed referrals you’ve had to your site(s) - if so mine says 227 this week. But when I look at my stats on statcounter I don’t see one single visitor coming from blogrush. I have seen a few in the past but frankly I get more from blogcatalog, Thoof, Redit, dig and so on.

Most of the sites/posts that coming up in the widget on my gardening blog are from very general sites that should be in the personal journal category if you ask me!

A cynical, “knee jerk”, stale platitude to try and stave off defeat at the hands of little boys (and girls and bloggers and…) shouting to their parents (and readers and…) that the emperor has no clothes on.

It’s like wearing a patch on your shirt that says “blogrush” and then one day, they come along and tear the patch off your shirt and say “Your shirt is not good enough to have this patch on it.”

Who made them the judge and jury for what is a good blog and what is not-so-good.
