If you use mac, you notice how it gets slow every once and a while, especially if you download a lot of stuff.
The problem with Macs, is that they tend to keep EVERYTHING. A lot of old files you never used, cache, and data that doesn’t do you any good buy slowing your mac down.
For that reason safari is ideal for mac while if you tried browsing with google chrome, you noticed that it got extremely slow.
I looked further into this problem and have found an awesome FREE software that will help you see exactly which files are using your storage.
If you go to “about this mac ” -> “storage” you will probably notice a yellow bar saying “other”… well that’s helpful, lol.
What the heck is “other” and how do I delete these useless 150 GB (in my case it was 150 GB… mind blowing) ?
There is a better way and its called ” OmniDiskSweeper
Now let me make it clear, I wasn’t paid by anyone or am affiliated with Omni Disk Sweeper, just wanted to help some of you who are frustrated with this “slow mac” problem.
Go to omnigroup.com and download the app.
After you download & install it, it maps the files in a better way then your “finder” does, makes it easier for you to understand which files you’re going to get rid of. See the screenshot below.
As you can see, it shows you what drive uses most of your macs memory.
You can then easily click the drive, and through the app, delete the files that take a lot of space and do very little ( I personally deleted over 100 GB with this awesome app within 30 seconds).
That’s all for today, hope that helps !
